Sustainability
At Scout, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint with sustainable practices. We are always working towards producing minimal waste, and using natural or plastic free products.
Our best sustainable practices at the studio include:
Using reusable melanine cups at our water and tea station which means that if you forgot your water bottle at home, no problem! You can simply treat yourself to a warm tea or water from our fountain using our reusable cups.
Re-using cloths and spray bottles instead of disposable wet wipes. As we use those at the end of every class to wipe down all of the props, mats and reformers, this considerably reduces waste.
Candle refills – we bring back and refill the wax of our scented candles at Hunter Candles instead of getting new candle containers every time.
Hand sanitiser and hand soap/shower gel are all purchased in bulk and always refilled in the bathrooms and common areas to avoid buying new bottles.
Loose leaf tea in compostable bags – we purchase our delicious tea range in bulk to avoid the use of single sachets.
Plastic free tampons from Femmé Organic on our beauty bar.
Compostable garbage bags in the bins in the bathroom and common areas.
Washing with eco-friendly detergents purchased in bulk and that are gentle on sensitive skins.
Using “Who Gives a Crap” as our toilet paper which is 100% plastic free + made of Bamboo and gives back to the community by building toilets in areas of the world where access is limited.
All of our merch is shipped in compostable mailing bags.
We have installed solar panels on the roof at our Marrickville studio.
Partnering with brands that share our focus on using natural or plastic free products or maintaining environmentally sustainable practices.
We know that there’s always room for improvement, and as we learn we continue to add to our studio practices. If you have any questions about or suggestions for our studio’s environmental practices, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at hello@scoutpilates.com.au.
