SCOUT PROFILE SERIES - Meet Tamsin!
TAMSIN ANDERSON
Age: 45
Star sign: Gemini
Tell us about your day job: I work in healthcare safety and quality. My days are equally fascinating and demanding. I work alongside a bunch of dedicated healthcare workers and am constantly humbled by what they deliver for our patients.
Favourite thing to do when you’re not doing your day job? Spending time with my family in nature and doing Pilates!
How long have you been coming to Scout Pilates? I started coming to Scout after the first lockdown, during which I rediscovered the joy of group exercise (albeit online, in my living room!). I was hooked from the start, and despite being a very non-morning person, I take huge pleasure in slipping out of the house in the quiet of the morning.
What keeps you coming back? I have a very busy life, demanding job, family commitments, renovating a falling down house, but Pilates leaves me feeling energised and strong. Scout is a beautiful welcoming environment and it’s a critical part of my self-care.
Favourite class and why? That’s like asking me to choose a favourite child… but I am equally enamoured of Jane and Mandi’s classes, they both bring abundant energy and fun to their workouts which are always challenging and have great playlists.
Favourite Pilates position? I love positions that require balance, coordination and strength – the ones that sound slightly unfeasible but are so satisfying when you pull it off!
Enough Pilates chat, what in your life gives you the most energy? Without a doubt, spending time with my boys, 13 & 11. They are funny, fascinating and fill my cup every day. Kids + long bushwalk is the crème de la crème. The boys would probably disagree on the bushwalk part but humour me just the same.
Tell us your favourite place to eat or drink in the Inner West and what you order when you’re there? Coffee and the lemon curd slice at Fleetwood Macchiato. Tara does some kind of magic with that slice… She is very wise to refuse my repeated requests for the recipe.
What advice would you give to your 15-year-old self? Be BOLD, don’t limit yourself by what scares you. My 45-year old self also needs to hear this!
If you could travel ANYWHERE tomorrow where would you go? ? I love traveling and I am constantly dreaming of adventures. But right now a tent pitched in the bush with no phone signal/wifi would be the tonic for my overwhelmed mental load!
What goal do you want to achieve by the end of the year? I have some big things happening in my life, but routinely getting to work on time would be nice! My mornings are chaotic.
