Sustainability at Scout

It’s Plastic Free July ®, the annual global movement that encourages people and organizations to reduce their single plastic use consumption in an effort to reduce waste and help protect our precious environment.

At Scout, we do our best to embrace this mindset and operate with our footprint in mind all year long. You may already have noticed a couple of the processes that we have in place in order to reduce waste and we thought we would shine light on our ongoing effort to reduce waste and to use natural and plastic-free products to remain as “clean” as possible.

Our best sustainable practices at the studio include:

-       Using reusable melanine cups at our water and tea station which means that if you forgot your water bottle at home, no problem! You can simply treat yourself to a warm tea or water from our fountain using our reusable cups.

-       Re-using cloths and spray bottles instead of disposable wet wipes. As we use those at the end of every class to wipe down all of the props, mats and reformers, this considerably reduces waste.

-       Candle refills we bring back and refill the wax of our scented candles at Hunter Candles instead of getting new candle containers every time. And by the way, they'll do that for anyone who brings their empty candle back and by doing so, you get a little discount on your refill!

-       Hand sanitiser and hand soap/shower gel are all purchased in bulk and always refilled in the bathrooms and common areas to avoid buying new bottles all the time.

-       Loose leaf tea in compostable bags – we purchase our delicious tea range in bulk to avoid the use of single sachets

-       Compostable garbage bags in the bins in the bathroom and common areas

-       Washing with eco-friendly detergents purchased in bulk and that are gentle on sensitive skins.

-       Using “Who Gives a Crap” as our toilet paper which is 100% plastic free + made of Bamboo and gives back to the community by building toilets in areas of the world where access is limited.
