SCOUT INSTRUCTOR SERIES - Natalie

NATALIE HURST

Age: 33

Star sign: Gemini

How long have you been teaching Pilates? 3 years! (2 years full-time) I was a yoga teacher for a few years before that alongside working in Media.

How did you first get into Pilates?  When I moved to Australia my friend who moved with me was talking about Reformer and how we should try it. And that was it! Hooked.

What's your favourite Pilates pose?  Anything that includes inner thighs - My Tuesday lunchtime crew will definitely vouch for that haha OR side lying legs. Love a relaxing burn.

What's your favourite thing about teaching at Scout Pilates? The community of amazing people showing up for themselves, for whatever reason and no one passing judgment on their why.

Enough Pilates chat, what in your life gives you the most energy? Definitely travel, I'm never not planning a trip. But when I'm here, walking around Sydney park with my 2 dogs, or swimming at the beach with them and my partner. And heading camping around NSW. Basically being outdoors!

Tell us your favourite place to eat in the inner west and what you order there? I love Italian food, and a firm favourite is La Favola. It's a cute little spot on King Street with the best food and the most lovely people. We always get the bruschetta followed by broccoli pasta (trust me it's amazing) and of course a limoncello.

What advice would you give to your 15-year-old self? Stop worrying because you're going to end up with the dogs you really want :D

Last great book that you read? 'Where the Crawdads sing' - WAY better than the film IMO.

If you could travel ANYWHERE tomorrow, where would you go? The Philippines is firmly at the top of my list.

What goal are you hoping to achieve in 2023? We are trying to put roots firmly in Erskineville after renting for 4 years here and looking to buy a place, so definitely that!
