SCOUT INSTRUCTOR SERIES - Meet Talia!
TALIA KUO
Age : 26
Star sign: Aries
How long have you been teaching Pilates? Since February last year!
How did you first get into Pilates? I've danced since I was 5 years old, and when I was looking for a way to improve my fitness back in 2019, Pilates seemed like the most natural progression. It translated well into dance (... still does!) and I knew a wonderful instructor through the dance studio I attended - who introduced me to the big bad world of Pilates.
What's your favourite Pilates pose? Can I say figure 4 stretch? Is that allowed? I've got insanely tight glutes so stretching them out feels REALLY good.
What's your favourite thing about teaching at Scout Pilates? I love the decor. And the interior design inspiration that gets posted on Scout's Instagram stories!
Enough Pilates chat, what in your life gives you the most energy? Dancing and time with friends. It's even better when the two collide.
Tell us your favourite place to eat in the inner west and what you order there? This is by far the hardest question. I can't go past Gigi's Pizzeria. Outstanding Italian food, and all vegan. Their lasagne is absolutely unbelievable and their arancini balls are non-negociable when (not if) you go.
What advice would you give to your 15-year-old self? Do your best, always. It doesn't matter how small or big the task is. Do your best.
Last great book that you read? Stephen Grosz's 'The Examined Life.' He's an accomplished psychologist who released a book of lessons he learnt through his sessions with patients. There are incredible lessons in the book, but it's written as anecdotal stories, which are engaging and easy to relate to. Highly recommend!
If you could travel ANYWHERE tomorrow, where would you go? I'm feeling extra Summery as of late so maybe somewhere a little beachy. Hamilton Island, perhaps.
What goal are you hoping to achieve in 2023? I just want to keep improving! It's not the most specific or measurable goal. But it's one I feel strongly about.
