We focus on evidence-based techniques to build stability, strength and flexibility.  We are a community for everybody, located in the heart of Sydney's inner west.  We offer a dynamic mix of reformer, mat, barre, and yoga classes to energise and challenge our clients.

our culture

Movement does not discriminate and neither do we. Inclusivity is a core value at Scout - we are accessible to all ages, genders and fitness levels. Our studios are a fun, vibrant, upbeat and a safe environment.

At Scout, we strongly believe in contemporary, evidence-based, and functional movement. Movement that helps people move well in their everyday lives.

Joining Scout is a great way to achieve your health and fitness goals while being a part of a supportive community. Additionally, it's important to remember that Scout and any kind of studio is a shared space where everyone's experience matters. To ensure a positive, inclusive and harmonious environment, clients should follow certain guidelines for their behavior. In this blog, we will discuss some essential etiquette tips for clients to help create a pleasant atmosphere and foster a sense of respect among fellow students.

Be punctual

Being punctual is not only a sign of respect but also allows you to make the most of your workout session. Arrive a few minutes early to give yourself enough time to check-in, change if necessary, and settle into the workout area. Lateness not only disrupts your own experience but can also disturb others who may already be engaged in their workouts.

Respect the space and equipment

Scout provides state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for clients to use. Please treat these resources with care and respect. Clean and return any equipment to its designated place after use, wipe down machines and mats. Use lockers to store your personal items, especially phones and jackets, it gets crowded in winter and creates hazards for others and us instructors. By doing so, you contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for everyone.

Maintain good personal hygiene

Good personal hygiene is essential when working out in close proximity to others. Wear appropriate and clean workout attire, and use a towel to wipe off excess sweat during your session. Additionally, remember to wear deodorant and avoid wearing strong perfumes or colognes that may be overpowering for others.

Follow studio policies

Each fitness studio may have its own set of rules and policies to ensure the safety and comfort of all clients. Familiarize yourself with our guidelines and adhere to them. Policies include rules regarding cell phone usage, appropriate attire, class cancellations. Respecting these rules helps create a positive environment and allows everyone to enjoy their Scout experience to the fullest.

Be mindful of personal space and noise

In our studio, personal space can be limited, especially during peak hours. Respect the boundaries of others by giving them enough room to move and exercise freely. Additionally, keep noise to a minimum. Be mindful of other classes running in other rooms when entering the studio and catching up in the hall way with your fellow Scout buddies. While some classes may require grunting or heavy breathing, be mindful of excessively loud conversations or disruptive behavior that can disturb others’ concentration.

Support and encourage others

Here at Scout, we are a community of like-minded individuals striving towards similar goals. Show support and encouragement to your fellow students. Offer a smile, a friendly word, or a small gesture of motivation when appropriate. Creating a positive and uplifting atmosphere helps everyone feel more motivated and connected.

Communicate with instructors and staff

Our instructors and staff are there to guide and assist you in your Scout journey. If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, don't hesitate to communicate with us. We appreciate your involvement and are more than happy to help address any issues you may have.

In conclusion,  we believe that behaving appropriately in a studio goes beyond simply working out. By following these etiquette tips, you contribute to a positive and supportive environment for everyone involved. Scout is a shared space where people come to improve themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally. As a community, we pride ourselves in creating an atmosphere of respect, inclusivity, consideration, and camaraderie, allowing everyone to thrive and reach their fitness goals together.
